Bio

John E. Eldridge graduated from Emory & Henry College in 1970, and from the University of Tennessee School of Law in 1979. Mr. Eldridge has practiced criminal law for over 38 years. He has also achieved the highest rating awarded by the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory (AV) and was listed as one of the “Best 150 Lawyers” in the state of Tennessee in the magazine Tennessee Business since it’s inception, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of criminal defense. He is also listed as Top Attorney in City View and Knoxville City Voice, as well as a Mid-South Super Lawyer in its recent edition.

Mr. Eldridge is a past president of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, past president of the Board of Directors of Federal Defenders Services of East Tennessee, and past president and Master of the Bench of the Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and active in his local bar, the Knoxville Bar Association, in which he was elected to serve two terms on the Board of Governors. He is the recipient of the Knoxville Bar Association’s Law and Liberty Award, recognizing professional achievement and community involvement. Mr. Eldridge is also a Fellow of the Knoxville Bar Foundation.

Active in civic affairs, Mr. Eldridge is a former chair of the Board of Trustees of Emory & Henry College, a past president of the Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Knoxville, West Knoxville Sertoma Club, and the Board of the Wesley House Community Center. He is active at Church Street United Methodist Church and enjoys the gym, gardening and fly fishing.
